What: Neighborhood meeting about Venable/Old York property zoning
When: Wednesday, July 12, 6 pm
Where: New Waverly United Methodist Church, 33rd & Frisby, entrance on Frisby
Who: All Waverly residents
Why: Have your voice heard
The WIA invites all Waverly residents to attend an important neighborhood meeting about the future of the vacant lots at Venable and Old York and on the 700 Block of 33rd Street. Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke worked with the community to reclassifiy this land as open space, and the day before this change took effect, the landowner proposed a dense housing development. The hearing is August 1.
The meeting on Wednesday is for local residents to learn more about what the proposal is, as well as the now stalled status change of this lot as open space. This will help WIA and Mary Pat Clark to gauge what the response of this community should be.
Please share, and tell your neighbors to join us. This is a 30-unit apartment building they have proposed to put in the lot on Venable, plus an additional 5, 3-story row homes on 33rd across from the Giant.
Let’s talk about this together! It is time to show up and have your say about the future of our community. We are holding this meeting instead of the July “Area Gathering” for 33rd, Venable, Westerwald, Frisby, 34th, and 35th, and 3300-3400 Old York and Greenmount residents, churches, and institutions, as stated in the WIA Summer Newsletter.
